Bobbi Brown Leaving Namesake

Hey Dolls, I am about three weeks late, but just heard the news that Bobbi Brown is leaving her eponymous company. Moment of silence. I am absolutely saddened. I am a huge Bobbi fan – both skin care and makeup – not to mention her clean, sleek and globally-recognized black and white packaging. Dressed in her signature black, applying makeup with her ring finger, Bobbi also made wearing eyeglasses über fashionable.

According to a December 19th press release from parent company Estée Lauder, “After 25 incredible years with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown is leaving the brand to explore the next phase of her extraordinary career.”

Given the news, I couldn’t let the day go by without sharing some of my Bobbi favs.

I am also incredibly grateful to The Estée Lauder Companies and the Lauder family for the many opportunities they gave me. I’m excited to see what the future holds.”

Girl Boss Life Planners for 2017

Hey Dolls! Happy New Year! I was so looking forward to 2017. Although 2016 was full of highs, there were definitely lows. Think the loss of David Bowie, Prince, Muhammad Ali, and over very own Princess Leia. But with the new year, brings new beginnings. An opportunity to set new goals, realize dreams, and practice purposeful planning for the year, or years, ahead.

I tend to use technology to plan and schedule. My Outlook calendar is a staple, as well as Wanderlist for my to-dos. But I really enjoy a fab life planner for penning more serious goals and ideas. At heart, I am a pen and paper girl. I love writing on good quality paper, with a beautiful pen. My go-to, and has been for years, is the Louis Vuitton Monogram Large Ring Agenda. This agenda is more of a daily planning and scheduling tool, and can be used for note taking in meetings. If you run out of inserts, and don’t want to repurchase the LV inserts, Filofax Diary Refills are compatible with the various agenda sizes.

In terms of “true” life planners, I’m loving the Leaders in Heels Make Your Mark Self-Coaching Journal.
The Make Your Mark collection has been designed and beautifully curated to encourage and inspire women to follow their passion, be more creative and innovative in their lives, feel more confident and determined in their endeavors and maintain a kind heart while becoming successful.

The Passion Planner is highly recommended by one of my favorite Dolls, Inspired Brand Consulting Founder + Principal, the brilliant Ryane L. This purposeful planning tool assists in clearly define personal goals and dreams by putting them at the forefront of your attention. The Passion Planner helps break down long and short terms goals into more actionable steps, giving them a place to incorporate these steps into your daily life. Think of the Passion Planner as a compass to guide your daily decisions.

The Day Designer created by Whitney English is a simple and easy system created to help you find balance, focus and productivity. Ms. English describes the Day Designer as not being able to “live your life for you. But it can, through a simple, guided framework, help you figure out a focus for intentional living. Me and Mariah …

Go back like … oh nevermind! Hey Dolls! I’m sure you’ve heard by now, but in case you missed, Mimi aka Mariah Carey has taken her talents to the makeup industry. Yep, just in time for the holidays, she’s teamed with MAC Cosmetics for a second holiday-themed collaboration.

MimiMakeup.jpg

The 2016 collection brings Mimi’s signature glam, featuring sexy nude tones sparkling like champagne and glimmering like diamonds! From eye shadow, to eyeliner, blush, bronzer and all-over body sparkle (my pick), silver and gold sparkle touch each piece of the collection. Names like Dream Lover and It’s Just Like Honey are inspired by some of Mariah’s chart-topping hits!

The collection is available online now, but hits the stores tomorrow, December 15th! Glam up, head to the MAC counter and make your purchase!

Let’s Party!

The holiday social season is in full swing, and as my Doll Alexia H.W. says, “You always need a gown at the ready, you never know when a gala will break out!” It’s true you know! Between now and the new year, evenings and weekends will be filled with holiday brunches, luncheons, parties and galas. The challenge is that the same friends, colleagues and family tend to be on the party circuit, meaning once you wear a frock, it immediately is taken out of rotation. What’s a Doll to do? There are a few online shops that have beautiful pieces; but I particularly love Net-a-Porter for dresses, bags and shoes! Below are a few items I am particularly loving this season. And even better, they are having a 50% sale right now! Happy shopping!

Image: Me in my favorite holiday frock!

I have been obsessing over jumpsuits this season. While not appropriate for every soiree, this Roksanda Margo black crepe jumpsuit, with bell sleeves is perfect for an evening cocktail party.

This flirty little Alice + Olivia Cina feathered mini-skirt is also party perfect!

I’ve also been doing a lot of lace – so classic and appropriate for a holiday gala. Loving the Estelle open-back lace gown by Rachel Zoe

Need some color in your life? Holidays equal red. Pair this Roland Mouret red satin pencil skirt with a beautiful Malene Birger Solar guipure lace top.

For the ultimate splurge, ring in the new year in this Tom Ford Velvet and tiered ombré feather maxi skirt. This number brings on a full-on swoon!

And for some shoes and bags I’m crushing on for the holidays, how about these Sophia Webster Maya bow-embellished suede sandals!

SJP has been killing the shoes game since channeling Carrie Bradshaw taking on NYC in her Blahnik’s. She’s now owning the shoe game in her own right with her eponymous line. These gorgeous Windsor crystal-embellished satin pumps scream holidays!

I did an earlier post on Edie Parker clutches. Her personalized Trunk Clutch adds a touch of whimsy to any holiday ensemble.

What will you be rocking for the holidays?

The Must Haves …

must-have \ˈməst-ˌhav\ -n
1. an essential possession: Jo Malone Lime Basil + Mandarin Bath Oil

Hey Dolls! Every once in a while I stumble upon a goodie that becomes a “must have” – meaning I cannot go without “said” goodie in my beauty regime. This week I stumbled upon my latest must have. Dolls know I love all that is Jo Malone and have tried many of the products in her line, with one exception, the bath oil. Thursday morning, I realized that I had several samples of the Lime Basil + Mandarin Bath Oil from a recent purchase and was moved to give it a try. I am so glad that I did. It’s absolutely EVERYTHING!

debbie-favoriet-jo-malone-lime-basil-mandarin-2_thumb_695x463

I’ve tried body and shower oils, that when applied, simply lay on your skin – absolutely no absorption, nor moisturization. Not Ms Malone. As I massaged it into my slightly damp skin, it absorbed nicely and the smell was to die for! The trick would be how moisturized would my super dry skin remain throughout the day. Ms. Malone wins again. Hours later my skin still felt soft, hydrated and fragrance had not left me.

Needless to say, I’ll be picking up the full size for myself, and possibly several as Christmas gifts for friends and family. Make sure to grab a bottle for yourself!

You are Cordially Invited to Champagne Sunday!

bar-cartHey Dolls! We are four days out and many of us are preparing to take planes, trains and automobiles to Thanksgiving celebrations with friends, family and loved ones. If you’re not traveling, you may be hosting, preparing to receive guests, and making last minute lists that include fresh turkey, crown roast of lamb, and cranberry  sauce.

In addition to the T’day staples, don’t forget to stock you bar with the necessary liquors and mixers to serve your guests fabulous cocktails throughout the holiday weekend.

I truly appreciate the aesthetic of a beautiful bar cart. Peep the must-haves below for the perfectly stocked bar.

Tequila for margaritas, sunrises, and palms. The best tequilas are made from 100 percent agave; check the label. Try Patron Silver – $45.

Whiskey or Scotch for Manhattans, old fashioned, and whiskey sours. Try Glenmorangie Single Malt – $40.bp_0307_barware_hd

You’ll also need the appropriate barware to mix your cocktails. Think ..

Ice bag
Bar spoon
Muddler
Jigger
Cocktail shaker
Strainer
Ice Cube Trays

And don’t forget your mixers – Cointreau, Red Vermouth, White Vermouth and Bitters.

Be sure to pick up Club Soda, Tonic, and an assortment of juices. To ensure you have enough, grab the half-gallon jugs. Finally, don’t forget your lemons, limes, cherries, cocktail rimmers, plenty of ice and serve!

For cocktail parties, allow for a pound of ice for each guest, as well as three drinks, three glasses, and three napkins per person for a two-hour party.

Black Friday Countdown

Good morning Dolls! Happy FriYAY! If you’re like me, you can’t believe the holidays are next month, and Thanksgiving is less than a week away. I can always tell how quickly the holidays are approaching by the number of Black Friday emails inundating me inbox. It doesn’t make sense for me to be selfish and keep the swag to myself. So daily, between now and Black Friday, I’ll be sharing what I’m be adding to my virtual cart.

First up, Sephora!  Dolls know I love Sephora, so their site will be first on my list at 12:00 am Friday. Their Black Friday preview begins today. I’m going to use some travel time this evening to do a little virtual shopping and save my picks to my cart.

Let the countdown begin!

Until then, keep sharing the pretty,
