Hi Dolls! I don’t know about you, but I love a new product/makeup release. Some, I purchase immediately. Others, I wait and check out the online reviews; and yet other’s I never purchase. But sometimes there is a product release that whether you need or not, you make the purchase. Enter Aaliyah X MAC! Yes, you heard correctly, MAC will be honoring the late R&B star with the Aaliyah Collection.
The backstory. For sometime a petition has been circulating on Change.org requesting that MAC honor the “One in a Million” songstress. 26K + signatures later and MAC has teamed up with her estate to launch a makeup collection set for a summer 2018 debut. 

Announced on the eve of the 16th anniversary of her passing, MAC shared via Instagram, “Aaliyah is truly one in a million—an unstoppable icon whose groundbreaking work in R&B music and film inspires us all. Today we join Aaliyah’s countless fans in celebrating her with the announcement of the MAC Aaliyah collection.” Fans quickly picked up on the hashtag #AaliyahforMAC

Known for her sultriness, beautiful face, tresses and edgy fashion, it is expected that MAC will capture Aliyah’s spirit with a collection to match.

Smoothie Monday!

Hi Dolls! Happy Monday! I traveled to New Orleans this weekend and let’s say, it was difficult to pass up the Gumbo (with white rice), Beignets, and adult beverages. I worked out while I was there, but not enough to make up for what I’d eaten. That said, it was time to get serious this morning. On tap, Celery, Cucumber and Lemon Water and my smoothie of choice – the “Celery, Cucumber + Kale, Oh My!” Smoothie. Uber green and healthy. I’ve been sipping on both all day. Peep the mixology below.

“Celery, Cucumber + Kale, Oh My!” Smoothie

The Ingredients |

3 celery stalks

  • Excellent source of antioxidants and beneficial enzymes
  • Source of vitamins and minerals – Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Potassium, Folate and Vitamin B6
  • Provides dietary fiber that boosts digestion and weight loss
  • Prevents dehydration and reduces bloating

1 cucumber

  • Helps with hydration
  • Flushes out toxins
  • Supplies skin-friendly minerals: magnesium, potassium, silicon
  • Aids in weight loss
  • Revives puffy eyes
  • Stabilizes blood pressure
  • Refreshes breath
  • Smooths hair and nails
  • Soothes muscle and joint pain

4 kale leaves

  • Low in calories, high in fiber, zero fat
  • High in iron
  • High in Vitamins K, C, Calcium
  • Filled with powerful antioxidants 
  • Great anti-inflammatory food

1 apple

  • Helps in the production of healthy cells and reduces the chance of chronic diseases

1 lemon

  • Works to cure stomach ulcers
  • Anti-pain properties

The Mixology | Place all ingredients into your juicer. Remember to remove the rind of the lemon first and juice away!  If you don’t have a juicer at home and don’t want to buy green juices at the store, blend this recipe in your blender. Add water or coconut water to help liquefy. You may also want to add 1/4 cup of pineapple or another apple to slightly sweeten it. (I definitely added the pineapple.) Pour and enjoy!
